Malvern Central Spring Racing Guide

With the spring racing season almost upon us, I headed into Malvern Central to pick our some of my favourite outfits.

Whilst the Flemington Carnival runs over one week and includes 4 major race days, each day has a different style and
theme.

With keeping this in mind, it's important to celebrate the day all whilst keeping to the dress code.

For example Derby Day has always had a black and white dress code, which I absolutely love whilst Melbourne cup day is
about having fun with colour and prints.

Over all there are a few things to consider when dressing for the races and I have listed some tips below.

Race wears Tips:

1. Take the weather into consideration when choosing an outfit and your hairstyles. If the weather

forecast is going to be freezing cold then make sure you come prepared by

matching a stylish jacket to your outfit. There is nothing worse then not being
able to enjoy your day because you're shivering cold

2. If it is going to be wet and windy, then make
sure your hair is styled in a chic pony or a messy bun. If you do try and wear
your hair out on one of Melbourne miserable weather days, then before you know
it you curls would've dropped, messy and definitely not what it looked like
when you had it styled.

3. The races is all about having

fun with fashion but still dressing lady like. Leave the super short mini
skirts and boob tube dresses for a Saturday night out.

4. Make an effort with your

headpiece. Its only one time a year that you get to put on a fabulous headpiece
so go that extra mile and add a beautiful headwear to your outfit. Leave the
thin headband and dainty clip for another event.

Derby Day

This is the first day of the racing carnival and is definitely not the day to experiments and try and stand out by
wearing colour. There is nothing chicer, then when you arrive at Derby Day and the whole crowd looks stylish and polished all wearing

Black and White. Trust me if you do want to risk it and wear colour, you will stand out for all the wrong reasons.

Melbourne Cup Day:

This is the day to have fun with colours and patterns as Melbourne Cup day is all about having fun, celebrating and

adding colour and patterns to your outfit. What I love about cup day is that you don't

have to wear all one colour, or shades of one colour.

For example I have paired an orange head piece to a purple dress and nude shoes.

This is the day where you can be as loud with your fashion as you like.

Oaks Day

Traditionally known as Ladies Day, Oaks days is all about dressing feminine.

Think lace, pastel colours, and flowers.

Oaks day is the race day to play up to all things pretty and soft with not just your outfit but also your hair and make
up. Think dewy skin, pink cheeks and loose curls.

Stakes Day

The last day of the race week is stakes day and is known as 'Family Day'

Being the last day of the carnival, this is a super relaxed day where everyone just lets his or her hair down.

A lot of families attend with their kids, and it's a cute day for the little ones to dress up and be involved.

When it comes to dressing for stakes day, you can definitely relax with your outfit.

Instead of a bold headpiece, you could pair your dress with a beautiful fedora.

If you are going to take your little ones, I would swap the stilettoes for wedges, as there is a bit of walking involved,
and if your child is anything like mine then 95% of the time they want to be carried.
