The 2016 Formula 1 Rolex Australia Grand Prix is finally upon us and I cannot wait to head down to the track this week to experience what is expected to be the biggest and the best Grand Prix Melbourne has ever housed.
I am extremely honored to be named this years official Grand Prix 'Social Ambassador'. This week I cannot wait to be bringing behind the scenes with me to showcase areas of the Grand Prix very few get to see.The Grand Prix is the oldest surviving motor racing competition held in in Australian. Currently held at Albert Park, it is a 16-turn circuit, which measures 5.3kms and was built utilizing combinations of public roads and a car park within the park.
This year the Grand Prix brings even more off track attractions and activates with a big families focus with Disney on board as a major sponsor. For a Grand Prix first, Disney will be setting up a amazing areas for our kids with interactive activities featuring Star Wars and Disney/Pixar Cars. Along with Disney, there will also be a Porsche driving school featuring pedal cars and a purpose built track, which will offer kids a head start in road safety. Another kid favourite will be the 'Kids Sporting Zone' which is a great bonding activity for the family as you can test your various sporting skills with soccer, basketball and footy activities.
Moving on to the adults, thisyear the Grand Prix will feature the M-Lane which is a unique laneway inspired experience combining some of Melbourne Iconic culture, food and street art. For the first time, general admission fans will be able to experience the culinary delights of some of Melbourne's best chefs and eateries.
If you're in need of a girls day out, this years Grand Prix is the perfect setting. There is sure to be an incredible buzz to the week and I am gunning that there will be no disappointment after sipping on a drink at the 'Renault Torque Bar' which has a relaxed lounge atmosphere and outdoor space located in the hear of the Pit straight. Whether it is your girlfriend, boyfriend or another guest of choice, will be treated to delicious food, yummy cocktails and a full day of entertainment. Speaking of entertainment, it doesn't finish here. The Grand Prix will be a host to 47 Music acts including Sneaky sound system, Rogue Traders and some of Melbourne best DJ's, so there will be something for everyone to get the party started.
For those who are not huge onbars and food, the Melbourne Walk could be a great option for you. The walk gives fans a unique chance to step foot and pace the Formula One Paddock each day with the opportunity to get autographs and selfies with the biggest names on thecircuit, I will ensure I am camera ready for this one!
Now you have a bit of background and hopefully sharing in my excitement, I can now give you some insight on what I will be bring to you throughout the week. It all starts with 'Glamour On the Grid' this Wednesday night. This evening event gives a chance for guest to mingle with the racecar drivers and their teams during an evening filled with glamour and fast cars.
Speaking of Glamour, it is always hard to know what to where to an event like the Grand Prix so we are to think 'Casual Glamour'. I would leave high stilettos at home as you might be walking around a bit so aim for wedges, leather jackets and jumpsuits to ensure your outfit doesn't get blown away as the cars zoom past.
